I really liked this novel. It has dragons and a bit of magic with characters of every ilk. Good King versus Evil uncle, Evil spirit (Bahr) versus everyone. I could empathize with the characters as they went from happiness, to despair, to happiness, etc. I was gratified that the evil uncle was given his justified reward and I am wondering if Bahr is really dead. I am ready for the next book. The Elves lost their queen due to the dragons helping Soren save his kingdom and breaking the seal that kept him imprisoned. My mind is running amok thinking of all the possible that could be coming up. Just a very entertaining book that kept me involved from beginning to end. Thank you Meg.

I said it on the last book and I'll say it again this really harkens back to epic fantasies of old. Fans of Tolkein looking for a new epic fantasy will like this series, but I don't think it's too intensive for new fantasy readers either. The pacing is quick, the story line is engaging, and the characters are fun and interesting. The writing and development still makes you care, if not about the character themselves at least about the situations they find themselves in. While this book isn't perfect -- and since I read an advance copy, I'm sure that any errors have been fixed, but I didn't notice any that detracted from the story -- it still carries the world that Meg has created. I can't wait to read the next book and see how this story develops!

This series is fantastic. Once I started I could not put it down. Definitely recommend it.
The action and intensity really ramp up with this book. Characters you can really get into and care about what happens to them. Definitely recommended.
Meg Cowley has done an excellent job at weaving this 2nd story of Caledan. Reading more of Soren's story has been great. I have so enjoyed all the characters and the plot. Off to read book 3!!!
I was very impressed with this one. It had me thinking one thing was going to happen, but the opposite happened instead. It also had me sad at a couple of points. I can't wait to read the last book.
From the opening pages of the first book, you could tell this was an epic in the making. This, the second book continues seamlessly from the first book. Wonderful characters, detailed settings, multiple intricate plotlines, think a cleaner Game of Thrones). Excellent read!
